I will not provide the cliché or generic testimonial that may be typical in these instances. I would like to provide specific reasons why Dr. Browdy stands out from other orthopedic surgeons.
As a referring physician, I have sent numerous patients, colleagues, family members, and friends to Dr. Browdy. There are mainly two reasons I continue to strongly recommend Dr. Browdy and his staff.
- Browdy is an elite trained orthopedist, but you can read on that in his bio. What the bio doesn't tell you is that Dr. Browdy is not only elite in the quality of orthopedic care he provides, but that he does it without pretension or haughtiness. That is an intangible quality that is not always present when being treated by physicians of his caliber. When I refer to Dr. Browdy, I can be sure my patient will be treated well in all facets of care.
- The second reason I refer is his staff. Browdy's staff is kind, professional, and efficient. This is, unfortunately, not as common as it should be in medical offices. His staff is excellent about having patients seen in a timely manner and treating them with the utmost respect. That is invaluable for me as a referring physician.

I first met Dr. Browdy about eight years ago on a worker's compensation issue. He and his entire staff were so helpful, considerate, and professional. Since then I have come to him for all my orthopedic needs. Of all the orthopedic doctors I’ve seen in my lifetime, I’ve found Dr. Browdy to be the most caring and attuned to a patient’s needs. I live in O'Fallon and drive to Clayton. There are plenty of orthopedic doctors in my immediate area, but I choose to drive the extra miles knowing I will be well taken care of by Dr. Browdy and his staff. I have been seeing Dr. Browdy for the past three years. The doctor and his staff are wonderful. They have worked with me on pain management, which is very important since my job requires a lot of manual labor. I received a knee replacement four weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. I was up and walking without a walker or cane in a week! The office coordinated with my insurance and for my post-op aftercare needs and things could not have gone more smoothly. I needed a second opinion, so I did some research and decided to make an appointment with Dr. Browdy. On my first visit, I saw Amy (PA) and Dr. Browdy and immediately felt like they listened to me – unlike my experience with the previous orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Browdy and Amy explained that I had options and didn’t just have to live with the pain.
Dr. Browdy performed a procedure about two months ago and my knee just keeps feeling better and better. The fluid is gone, and my knee is no longer tender to touch. I would recommend Dr. Browdy to anyone who needs an orthopedic doctor. He's the best!

Because mine was a workers’ comp case, I wasn't sure what to expect from a surgeon. I worried that he might be like that character on an old auto commercial ("Gee, boss, I ain't never fixed a meniscus before; can I try?") or an overachiever with a PhD in condescension.
What I got was a doctor that at my initial consult he had read my chart, seen my MRI, and acted like I was the only patient he had to see that day. He asked about a specific medication listed on the paperwork I had just filled out. He explained options. He listened. And as we talked, I became confident that if surgery was needed to correct my situation, Dr. Browdy was the surgeon I wanted.
It’s now more than one year since my surgery and I am convinced that decision was a good one.

Orthopedic Expertise
I was referred to Dr. Browdy for a second opinion on my rotator cuff injury. I found his office to be professional and modern, with a friendly and efficient staff. Dr. Browdy listened as I described my symptoms and concerns. After an examination, evaluation of my symptoms and an MRI I had four months earlier, Dr. Browdy confirmed the opinion of the first doctor but was able to offer a less invasive and more effective course of treatment. Now I'm pain free! And I know that if my problem comes back, Dr. Browdy will again counsel me on the options available and help me select the appropriate course of treatment that meets my specific needs. ~ Eve K.
The care I received was very professional and personable. The staff was extremely helpful, informative, and accommodating. Dr. Browdy did an excellent job educating me about the results of my MRI, what the surgery would entail, and what my rehab/recovery timeline would look like. My post-op pain was minimal – I was off the pain meds after one day. I have not had any pain while working out, which I was able to resume three months after surgery. Dr. Browdy and his staff have worked closely with me for two and a half years to manage a deteriorating osteoarthritic knee. Their philosophy and approach to patient health, particularly that surgery would be the last resort, was not only refreshing but also in keeping with my own goals.
When it looked like we had exhausted all possibilities, Dr. Browdy offered a treatment of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, a therapy just starting to be explored for this purpose. We discussed the procedure, which Dr. Browdy had researched carefully. He thoroughly described how the treatment would proceed and what to expect.
At the time the treatment started, I was on crutches, could barely walk, and was in severe pain. After a four-week course of treatment and following his instructions exactly, I am not only walking again but have almost no pain. My knee is stable, and I am able to exercise, walk the dog, and function at work. My quality of life is back to what I expect it should be.
